The making of the 'Archipelago' studio album (Part 2: 'Unreal' - The Funky Collaboration)

'Unreal' serves as the 2nd single from my 'Archipelago' studio album, this is a collaboration between me and my good friend, Denis Phunkerson, I met Denis before the pandemic in late 2019, I was still experimenting with music using different loops and samples and I met him through some mutual friends. I had showed him this French house track I had been working on which can be found in my Shorts section titled 'Bet You Wondering (How I Knew)' and he really liked the edit I did, I ended up finishing it and if I remember correctly, it's been sitting somewhere on some of my shelves in the studio. Denis wrote me back in 2021 and wanted to catch up with me and at some point in our conversation, he suggested we work on something and we started composing something which became 'Unreal'. We started out with the piano which is the same key as the title track, he added his guitar parts within the track and I worked on the bass, I put a little synth too and he added a second piano part near the end with some arpeggio notes I produced and finally he recorded the outro of the track, the drums were also recorded by me and it felt like a natural collaboration as we were also exchanging files via email and WeTransfer. We listened to the final product a few times and we were so happy with the end result and it is finally out on this album I've made. I really want to thank Denis for his participation in the production process of this track and I'm happy to be sharing the 2nd single from the album with y'all.
This is one of my favourite tracks from the album, I feel like it has a really funky vibe to it and it was one of the first tracks to be completed too !!!
