The Mercedes V-Class might look like a van in a posh outfit, but it's become a popular choice for chauffeuring A-listers and VIPs for good reason: it's roomy, luxuriously trimmed, and very discreet.
The 2023 V-Class is available with two engines and in two body lengths. The standard body is 5.14m long, while the extra long body measures 5.37m. The engines are both two twin-turbocharged, four-cylinder diesels, and both paired with a nine-speed automatic gearbox. The entry-level V220 d produces 163bhp, while the flagship V300 d has 237bhp. There's also a fully electric EQV with a range of around 200 miles from a charge - although bear in mind that's less than half what you'll manage in the diesel.
In this CarGurus UK review, Rebecca Jackson tests the extra long V300 d to see what the V-Class has to offer, be it for families, celebrities or VIPs. Practicality is explored across the V-Class's three twos and eight full-size seats, plus Rebecca weighs up the driving position and infotainment, and of course takes the big Mercedes for a drive to see how it behaves on the road.
Would you consider a V-Class over a big SUV?
