How to perform a spring cleanup for lawns and landscapes?

What's involved with a spring cleanup?

In the video, we covered some of the main tasks you will want to perform during a spring cleanup service for any lawn or landscape. There are other things you may need to do to your lawn based on its condition.

Here's a list of spring cleanup lawn maintenance tasks you should consider doing to prepare your lawn for the growing season ahead:

- Pick up & remove any remaining leaves from the lawn, landscape beds, and paved surfaces.
- Pick up & remove any other debris such as fallen branches
- Cut back/trim any plant material that is in need. This could include ornamental trees, ornamental grasses, shrubs/bushes, and/or perennials.
- Pull/spray weeds in your lawn and/or landscape beds

Considering mowing your lawn for the 1st time in the season as part of your spring cleanup tasks.

Potentially you should overseed thin or bare spots in your lawn - be sure to not apply pre-emergent herbicide if you sow grass seed!

Also, consider a light dose of fertilizer to make sure your turf has all of the nutrients it needs to break dormancy. I say 'light' because you don't want to add fuel to the fire as you know your grass will be growing like crazy on its own in the springtime!!
