I was in England last week, and my flight came earlier than expected, so I was waiting for a while to connect to Train 39. There was a travel advisory for 39 due to remnants of tropical storm Phillipe, which meant VIA Rail was offering free refunds and cancelling service charges to switch trains. Unfortunately the fare difference itself to switch to 37 was not covered, so I was stuck with 39.

I used this opportunity to railfan as much as I could given the weather. Many of these clips were shaky, because I had tried to disable the stabilization on my phone to try to reduce the weird artefacts that causes, but that didn't work like I expected. Unsurprisingly, stabilization from a device that also has acceleration data is better than trying to guess at motion in post.

I should also mention that NO ONE WAS HURT in the crossing incident (ok maybe my ears were). The guy who crossed made it across, and there are a couple frames where you can see him running off. After the CN train that came after 28, I gave his face to the station staff, who passed it on to VIA Rail police. This goes without saying, but don't cross the tracks in front of the train, even on designated walkways.
