It’s a good thing that if you are on a budget and need to build a website, you can create a website for free for your small business, personal brand or event. When creating your free website make sure you review what is included and excluded from the free plans so you don’t need to suddenly upgrade to a paid plan to get your website to work how you’d like it to.

Here are potential dealbreakers that might affect which free website builder to choose.
Ecommerce functionality: very few free website builders offer the ability to sell products online with the free version of their website builder. Square and Weebly allow you to sell online with the free version of their website builder.
Bandwidth or storage limits: If the website builder you choose has a bandwidth or storage limit, you could find yourself in the middle of the month without bandwidth or unable to upload another photo because you hit your limit. We don’t recommend creating your free website with a builder that has either of these limits. The free website builders with limits include Jimdo, Webnode and Wix.
Page limits: We don’t recommend choosing a website builder that has a limit on the number of pages you can create for your website. Carrd is for one page websites, and Jimdo has a 5 page limit with its free plan.
Custom domain: If you want a custom domain, you’ll have to use Ucraft or Google Sites. Most other website builders provide a free subdomain. The domain Wix gives you for a free website is basically unusable in our opinion.
