The VW Atlas Cross Sport is competing in the rather competitive 2-Row Midsize Family SUV segment. This segment consists of many heavy-hitters such as the Chevy Blazer, Ford Edge, Honda Passport, Hyundai Santa Fe, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Nissan Murano, Subaru Outback, Toyota Venza, and a few more SUVs.

For comparison, the Atlas Cross Sport is much larger than the upcoming all-new VW Taos and the current Tiguan. But, it is slightly smaller than the Atlas 3-Row.

So, is the 2020 - 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport the PERFECT SUV for you, or should you keep looking? Buckle up, sit back, and relax because, without a doubt, this "Right Off The Bat" countdown review will leave you knowing the highs and lows of VW's largest 2-Row SUV!

The VW Atlas Cross Sport is inspired by the VW CrossBlue Coupé Concept (which debuted at the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show). Fast-forward to the year 2020, and we find ourselves witnessing Volkswagen officially unveiling their production-ready iteration of that concept SUV.

Upon debut, many people were surprised that this all-new "coupe-like" SUV was sharing an identical platform (and engines) with the already familiar VW Atlas 3-Row (which originally debuted in mid-2017).

So, why did VW suddenly decide to introduce the Atlas #CrossSport for 2020? Well... The answer is quite straightforward.

Ever since 2017, VW was missing-in-action from a rather booming segment: the 2-row Midsize SUV segment. This was the case because VW decided to discontinue the mid-size Touareg back in 2017. Due to this discontinuation, shoppers searching for a 2-row midsize family SUV were forced to search elsewhere. At the time, VW only had the compact Tiguan and the 3-Row Atlas.

There was undeniably a void that needed to be filled... So, VW did just that!

But, did VW equip the 1st gen Cross Sport with enough tech, practicality, and curb appeal to STRONGLY compete against other Midsize 2-Row SUVs? Or does it fall short? There's only one way to find out! Enjoy this in-depth #Pros and #Cons countdown review.
