In this video, I show you how to paint your headlight housing. On the VW, it comes stock chrome, and I want to black it out to give it a bit more contrast.

So if you have a set of reflector bowls that are chrome, you should leave them chrome so you don’t distort your light output. The only time you can paint them is if you are doing a headlight retrofit and you are installing a projector lens in that bowl, similar to the lens I have on my Accord.

It isn’t a bad idea to look into an additional set of headlights to do this procedure to, so that if you damage your headlights for whatever reason, your daily driver is not out of commission. You can usually find a set at your local scrap yard, eBay, or even amazon for pretty cheap.
