Today, Dr. Jay gets to dig into his favorite manuscript, the Sana’a Mushaf. This was found in a Yemeni mosque in the late 20th century. The locals brought in German linguists to help translate the text as it appeared to be very early 8th century, but upon overhearing the Germans’ excitedly discussing the dramatic differences between the new found script and the Hafs addition, local authorities confiscated the material from them. Watch as Al Fadi and Dr. Jay review the controversial nature of this early manuscript.
