The all-new 2021 Kia Sorento is a standard 3-roll utility but it might compete with the larger Kia Telluride. The Kia Sorento utility competes across two categories. The base models with 5-passenger compact utilities on price and the higher trims with established mid-size 3-row utilities like the Kia Telluride. The all-new 2021 Kia Sorrento comes with a new base engine, it is a 2.5L 4-cylinder with 191hp. Gone is the 3.3L V6 engine, replacing it is a new 2.5L turbo 4-cylinder with 281hp and 311lb.-ft of torque. This is the same engine used in the new Genesis GV80 and Kia k5 GT sedan. Kia claims an 11% improvement in fuel economy with this new turbo engine. Both the 2.5L and 2.5L turbo get an 8-speed automatic but the turbo uses a dual wet-clutch system. The design of this new 2021 Kia Sorento SUV is much more domestic looking with a boxy shape and a new stylish rear light cluster. There is a new model called X-Line, which is the base turbo model, getting 20-inch wheels, a 1-inch ground clearance and more attitude. Unfortunately, the turbo models do not come with a second-row bench seat, only captains chairs, which limits the seating, making the turbo models only 6-seats. The dash is a stunner, with an available 1025-inch display audio system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The top models of this new Kia Sorento come very close to the Kia Telluride in term of price but the Telluride offers a lot more space, seating for 8-passengers and a wonderful 3.8L V6 engine.
