Talk on Prevalence of Syphilis in Pregnant Women Living with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) From South Africa Using a Molecular-Based Assay
Dr. Mabaso holds a Master of Medical Science degreei n Medical #Microbiology degree and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Clinical Medicine, obtained from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She is currently a National Research Foundation (NRF) funded Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Clinical #Medicine Laboratory, University of KwaZulu-Natal. Her current post doctoral project focuses on investigating and analyzing the vaginal microbiome of pregnant women with and without Chlamydia trachomatis infection. Since starting her postgraduate studies, she has published eleven research papers on sexually transmitted infections such as Trichomonas vaginalis, Chlamydia trachomatis and syphilis. Her research work focuses on sexual #health among South African pregnant women. She is currently collaborating with Professor Wail Hassan from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Dr Mabaso has presented her research work at the College of #Health Sciences Symposium (UKZN) and the Federation of Infectious Diseases Societies of Southern Africa (FIDSSA) Congress.
