On Labor Day, I got word from my friends in Centralia that L588 was making its run over to Eldorado, IL. I've been wanting to chase this local freight for a long while, so this was my chance to do so. With that, I set out to intercept them in Benton where the CN Eldorado Subdivision crosses the UP Mount Vernon Subdivision.

It only took around 30 minutes for L588 to show up, but I thought it would take longer, so I was a little unprepared. After my shot in Benton, I made my way east to West End where L588 would charge by at a decent speed. Upon entering the track warrant controlled territory in Galatia, the train slowed to restricting speed for the remainder of the journey to Eldorado, making for a far easier chase. I would see the train again in Raleigh and just east of there before heading into Eldorado to watch them make their shove down to the only industry keeping this seldom-used branch line active; Tri-County Chemical. After watching them back into the small yard to do a set out and pick up, I decided to head for home. I hope y'all enjoy!
