Silence Unknown Callers and Silence Junk Callers will send spam calls directly to voicemail. Some carriers offer Business ID, which helps you distinguish between legitimate businesses and telemarketers.

Your best built-in defense against spam texts is Filter Unknown Senders. This separates texts from contacts and unknown numbers into separate lists.

To help prevent future spam calls, we recommend adding your phone number to the Do Not Call Registry. Keep in mind that not every call center honors this registry.

You can use third-party apps to block spam calls texts, too! While you could install a spam-blocking app from your carrier, we recommend trying a third-party app like Nomorobo, Robokiller, or TrueCaller first.

Your carrier may charge you a fee for features these apps offer for free. Third-party apps also make easier to keep blocking spam should you decide to switch carriers.

There are several ways to report spam. Apple introduced a new Report Junk feature with iOS 16, allowing you to quickly report text spam to Apple and your wireless carrier. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has an online form you can fill out to report fraud.
