Surah/Quran Ar-Rahman - The Merciful (سورة الرحمن) - Magnificent Recitation That Soothes The Heart And Protects From Evil.

Surah Ar Rahman or also called surah The All-Merciful, is the 55th surah of the Quran. Revealed during the Medina period, sura Ar Rahman, takes its name from the first verse, and which is actually one of the divine names of Allah. In these 78 verses, the sura mentions the blessings Allah has bestowed on us in this world, and lists all the favors He will bestow on believers in Paradise.

In this Surah, we find certain verses which describe the event of the Resurrection and the Day of Judgment. Indeed, this surah belongs to the surahs which participate in deepening the notion of destiny for believers, of their relationship with Allah during their life and the reward which will be attributed to them on the day of the ultimate end.

Allah asks his servants after mentioning each boon he has bestowed on them: “Which of the blessings of your Lord is that you both will deny?” This verse is repeated 31 times in the sura. According to Imam Sadiq, it is recommended to say after this verse “Lord, I do not deny any element of your blessings”. In this surah, Allah addresses two of his creatures who are Man and the Djinn. Jinns are another creature of God, endowed with free will just like Man.

The famous translator Jacques Berque said that this surah with refrain, forms with its grace the bride of the Koran. According to him, “The entire surah comments on the divine attribute of Allah who is the All-Merciful (Ar Rahman). One cannot remain insensitive to his grandiose lyrical inspiration”.

Surah the Merciful, is also called the Surah of Beneficence, for all the material and spiritual benefits that God has granted to his creatures. It is for this reason that the Surah began with "the Most Merciful", the blessed name of Allah which alone forms a verse.

Depending on the theme addressed, the surah is divided into 5 parts:

– In the first verses, the surah highlights the benefits that Allah has granted to Man, to his education, to his spiritual but also bodily nourishment

– Secondly, the sura explains how Men and jinns were created

– Then, Allah enumerates the divine Signs on the earth and in the sky.

– In the fourth part, the sura describes in detail the privileges reserved for believers in Paradise.

– Finally, the surah briefly discusses the fate of all disbelievers and the punishment that awaits them.
The description of the punishment of the disbelievers is brief compared to the description of the reward of the believers, and this is due to the fact that this Surah is rather devoted to the mercy of Allah.
