YouTube videos from electric vehicle drivers may give you the impression cars are being driven down to flat 0%, regularly ending up out of charge and being towed away on flat bed trucks.

This is very far from my experience! I've rarely taken our Hyundai IONIQ Electric that low - or our Nissan LEAF before that - and have never run out of charge. I suspect other electric car drivers might have the same experience; please let me know in the comments.

I am starting to learn though what our IONIQ can do and am stretching it farther than our old LEAF.

In this video I discuss how low to go before charging our IONIQ, including what Hyundai recommends. This was all prompted by a recent need to go well beyond my charging comfort zone at the same time as I had only access to a 3-pin domestic socket to trickle charge.

I did this using the 9 amp 'granny' cable that was supplied with our IONIQ (it also came with a Type 2 to Type 2 32 amp cable that I normally use for home charging).
