CoSTAR was a DARPA-funded team lead by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory that participated in DARPA's Subterranean (SubT) Challenge, a program to develop innovative technologies to rapidly map, navigate and search complex underground environments such as natural caves, mines and urban underground. The competition spanned a period of three years and concluded in 2021. TEAM CoSTAR [Collaborative SubTerranean Autonomous Resilient Robots] was a collaboration between NASA’s JPL, MIT, Caltech, KAIST, LTU, and industry partners.
