If you plan cycling in the Westfjords of Iceland, chances are you will need to head to Isafjordur at some point. On the road from Þingeyrii to Ísafjörðu you have two options - Go through a tunnel, or take a dirt track over the mountain.

Two hours of pushing my heavy bike up hill in the rain didn't seem that appealing to me, so I chose the tunnel!

As far as cycling through tunnels in Iceland go this wasn't too bad. There was a rather unusual junction halfway through, and also a one way system, but it was only 6kms in length. No problem!
