I recently joined a field trip aboard the Polaris II, a research vessel owned and operated by the University of Otago in New Zealand. We sailed out to Taiaroa Head for an exploration of volcanic geology. Along the way I spotted many interesting seabirds, including the gigantic royal albatross!
