Doing the Copper Mountain Loop / Jordan Basin Loop in my Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. The trail starts of Virginia Lakes Road, a little bit north of Mono Lake (after you climb up the mountain). It's listed as Easy and it pretty much is, but it also gets a bit hard to follow when it starts through the forest and some points are on the rocky side, meaning 4x4 with decent tires would help. Because of those two factors, I'd probably list it as Moderate.

Also, as you can see, there's already some snow on the ground (late October 2016). I tried the trail back in the spring and there was so much snow I couldn't get past the first curve (though I was by myself and didn't know the route, so was playing it safe). It's definitely a fair-weather trail. Some shelf-road portions have a decent drop-off, which would make it even hairier in the snow.

Some great vistas of Mono Lake ... much better than the one from the 395 overlook.
