In this video, you will see a dramatic change in the winter weather at Sequim, Washington as the result of being directly below the convergence zone of a northerly flow of frigid, dry arctic air colliding with a much warmer front coming from the southwest saturated with water. Located on the east side of the Olympic Peninsula, Sequim is renowned for being in the “rain shadow” of the Olympic Mountains, protected by the predominantly west weather fronts that collide into to the Olympic Mountains forcing the winds and weather around both the north and south sides of the Peninsula. This weather dynamic often times results in a “blue hole” of sunshine when other areas around Puget Sound are in the clouds and getting rain.
