"Keep your head above water, but don't forget to breathe..."

"It's almost like Rey and Kylo are two halves of the protagonist." - Rian Johnson

"I hands down believe that these two are the primary characters of this trilogy and that whatever kind of relationship they have will be the focus of the next films..I'm also highly interested in their relationship as a hero/villain, as two sides of the same coin, as people searching to fulfill a destiny that they soon realize involves another person." myself, this video I did two years ago (   • In Your Head | Kylo Ren & Rey  )

Another Kylo/Rey video I did:    • Bleed You Dry | Kylo Ren & Rey

takes deep breath
Feel free to just watch the video and not even read this description, even though I think it's very informative to what I was trying to do with this video and is also a very in depth look at my psyche.

This video is very much a dual character study of these two incredible characters. I don't believe it's possible to examine one without also sampling from the other. Their dynamic is absolutely everything I wanted it to be after my 2015-2016 TFA meltdown. I'm even right now trying to word what exactly about them I find so compelling but I think I can sum it up quaintly by stating that well-written heroes and villains are rarely one-dimension and share traits with the other. These two are a masterful look at how they want what the other one has, what the other one gave up, what the other one values. Their desires are ultimately the same but their means of achieving it and their motivations are drastically different.

I already feel like I'm going to come back and edit this description box because in no way do I feel like I adequately explained my own personal POV regarding these two. This video is truly a testament to how symbolic I find their relationship to be, how yin/yang, light/dark, good/evil they are or have the potential to be. I was also very into the repeated hands motif that has now been present in both new trilogy movies and really wanted to utilize that, to showcase how they're both reaching for something, grasping for a cause that they can relate with, fight for, belong to.

It goes without saying that I do indeed ship them. They are everything I'm into. Do I think that my personal bias trumps my actual idea of what's going to happen? Absolutely not. It will be a miracle if that boy survives this franchise lmao. But underneath all of that, what draws them to me in a beautiful way is the inverse but also parallel journey they've been on, are going through, and will continue to go on. Ultimately, he relies on her and needs her far more than she does him and that will be his downfall (it probably already is, ya'll saw Hux's face at the end, right? RIP Kylo lmaoooooo). Kylo Ren can be redeemed, I truly believe that. I wouldn't have been a fan of Star Wars for most of my natural life if I didn't believe that someone who has done terrible things can at least /try/ to repair what they've done and atone. However, it is 100% not Rey's job to save or redeem him. That's what I loved most about the ending and why I ended this video the way that I did. She has done all she can for him, she gave him far more chances than he deserved and he still chose the wrong side. It's on him now. GOD I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT FILM. The two of them...on opposite sides...wanting and believing the other will turn and join them on the other side. It's really gonna be too much for me to handle, I'm already dead.
