Flipping The Old Town Salty PDL - How Stable is it? The TRUTH!
How stable is the Old Town Salty PDL? That is the question that I get asked the most lastly. The truth about the Salty PDL is that it is not meant to be the most stable platform, but to be an offshore boat that is made for big swells.
The best thing about the Old Town Salty PDL is that it is the Most affordable Old Town PDL kayak that they have to offer. Truly I thing it is an affordable powerhouse that could be a great fishing kayak. Today we decided to do a Old Town Salty PDL Flip Test! How stable is it? Let's find out the real TRUTH! Old Town does not advertise that this kayak is a very stable platform and that is rightfully so. The old town sportsman salty pdl 120 is probably the least stable of the Old Town Sportsman series, but where it lacks in stability it gains in speed. The Salty PDL is the fast kayak that old town has to offer. I promise you that this kayak will not let you down when it comes to speed. You can get to every fishing spot that you need before anyone else that is on a kayak, it is that FAST! Now, Flipping the Old Town Sportsman Salty PDL was a bit easier that I thought that it would be. But, it is weird.... it recovers very well from almost tipping. So when you think that it is super unstable, maybe its just "lighter on it's feet? All I can tell you... is regardless of how stable the Salty PDL is, it is still a fishing machine and will destroy the offshore swells. So, is the Salty PDL is it worth it?
