Coming up on this week’s show we’re off to the Cork Kerry Food Forum to learn about food, business and training. After that we’ll be visiting to dentist to find out about the impact that sugar has on our oral health. After the break we’ll be visiting National Learning Network to learn out more about the excellent range of training courses that they offer. And to finish to the show we’ll be at the Ocean to City, Ireland’s premiere long distance rowing race.

1 Cork Kerry Food Forum - The agri-food and drink sector is worth €10.8 billion and supplies 230,000 jobs to the Irish economy. For or our first feature we’re off to the City Hall to the Cork Kerry Food Forum to learn more about food, business and training. This 2-day event, features one of the largest artisan food markets in Ireland, and with 5000 people attending the free event we arrived early to find out more about the Forum as well as The Food Academy and to speak to Wicklow twins David and Stephen Flynn from The Happy Pear.

2 Sugar and Oral Health - We visit Dr. Anne Twomey, vice president of the Irish Dental Association to learn about the effects that sugar has on our oral health and what hidden sugars we should look out for. We also hear Dr. Twomey’s opinion on the sugar tax that the government is considering imposing.

3 National Learning Network - National Learning Network is Ireland’s largest non-government training organization providing a range of courses for people who need extra support to train, people who have had an accident, illness, injury or have a disability. NLN has over 5000 students and 50 training centers across Ireland so we’re about to visit the 3 main centers in Cork to find out about the courses and services that they offer.

4 Ocean to City - Ocean to City or An Rás Mór, is Ireland’s premiere long distance rowing race attracting hundreds of participants annually. In it’s 12th year it has grown from a race for traditional fixed seat boats into an all inclusive rowing event. With thousands of spectators each year the race is a real flagship event for Cork harbor- one of the largest natural harbors in the world and it appeals to a wide range of rowers and paddlers from all over Ireland, England, Wales, the Netherlands, Portugal and the US.
