In this video, we are showing the proper diagnostic steps to isolate the source of common vibrations and shimmies caused by driveline components. We will show you how to inspect a flex disc, aka a Giubo. We will take you through the detailed process of inspecting the driveshaft, aka propeller shaft, and show you how to identify a defective u-joint that may appear to be a good one. These diagnostic steps and inspections apply to most European vehicles that use driveshafts with integrated u-joints and have Giubo-style flex discs, including a wide range of BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Volkswagen, and Volvo models. This specific vehicle in the video is an F30 generation (2012-2018) BMW 3 Series that had a driveline vibration felt through the chassis, seat, pedals, and steering wheel at speeds as low as 25mph!
