About this video: October seems to be quite the month for me to buy cars. In October 2016, I purchased a used L322 Range Rover. In October 2020, I purchased a used BMW 528i. In October 2021 (exactly one year after buying the 5 Series), we purchased a used 2016 Range Rover Sport HSE in Santorini Black with a 2 year/24,000mi warranty. Luckily for us, this warranty comes straight from Land Rover, meaning we’re protected on nearly everything these 2016 Range Rover Sports are known for having problems with!

Personally, I feel that the 2016 Range Rover Sport was the right choice for the time being. With used car prices increasing like crazy over the last few months, L405 Range Rovers were roughly $10,000 more than I was looking to spend for a CPO example. However, Sports were right in line with what we were looking to spend on our new family SUV. We were able to find this CPO 2016 Range Rover Sport L494 HSE for a reasonable price at Land Rover North Atlanta. And if you can’t tell by now, one of the aspects of this used Range Rover Sport that I’m most excited about is the 2 year warranty from Land Rover.

During the purchase process, it was imperative to us to find a model with a Land Rover Warranty. With all of the common problems on the Sport, it is inevitable that something will eventually break, and luckily, we’re covered! This also gives me more confidence with being able to take this 2016 Land Rover Range Rover Sport HSE out on the trails - tracking the easiness of Land Rover Owner’s Day Asheville all the way to slightly more difficult/technical trails like Hurricane Creek Trail in NC.

We’re all excited for the arrival of our used Range Rover Sport! Even better, just shortly after taking delivery of our 2016 Range Rover Sport CPO, we noticed that images were surfacing of the new Range Rover Sport design. The good news in that is that the new design looks much less muscular - going for a more minimal approach to design as most cars. However, for us, we love cars to be a bit over-styled, which is what I feel the 2016 Range Rover Sport we purchased does perfectly.

All in all, we’re all excited for the Land Rover Ownership Experience that awaits us with our used 2016 Land Rover Range Rover Sport HSE (despite its ridiculously long name). I’m excited to finally own a second Land Rover in the fleet after having to give up on our 2003 Land Rover Discovery II project that we recently uploaded a video on. It’s great to have multiple Land Rover Range Rovers in the fleet, even if they are from completely different model designs.

Something else that has been interesting about the difference in the full-size Range Rover and the Range Rover Sport that we noticed right away is the suspension. The air suspension in the full-size Range Rover is much more geared for comfort, while the air suspension in the 2016 Range Rover Sport is most certainly more geared for sporty driving. This only makes sense once you realize the naming of the models, but it is a shocking experience at first. I’m still getting used to the difference in the air suspension on the full-size range rover and range rover sport.
