In this video, we illustrate an example of explaining to a client about what keeps worry going. This metacognitive formulation can be applied to working with worry and/or rumination - mental processes that are often observed in, and known to maintain, various psychological disorders such as Generalized Anxiety Disorder.
Handouts and worksheets on managing worry and rumination, including the “What? Me Worry!?!” workbook, are freely available here: https://www.cci.health.wa.gov.au/Reso.... There is an information sheet for the client titled “How Worry Works” that summarises the information covered in the video.
A corresponding clinician reflection exercise can be downloaded from our website as a companion to this video. Engaging in these reflection exercises will help you to maximise your learning, and can equip you to use the demonstrated principles in your own work: https://www.cci.health.wa.gov.au/Trai...
Stay tuned for the follow-up video "Explaining Worry Postponement”.
