Tormach CEO Daniel Rogge, recently conducted a ZA6 webinar in November 2023, where he goes over the current capabilities of using a Tormach ZA6 for machine tending. There are many advantages, such as the relative simplicity of the PathPilot system combined with the use of ROS and Python programming. He also wants to lay down the challenges of using the ZA6 with the 1100MX as as this mill isn't designed for large production runs. Still, there are some complexities to machine tending that a new user needs to be aware of. Dan goes over these to make sure beginners know what they are getting into. The combination of the Tormach mill and ZA6 robot arm works great as long as a large quantity of chips aren't produced in the process of cutting your parts, and the new user gets over the learning curve of a robot arm.
