Enabling a terrain lens is like looking at your data through a different set of glasses. A terrain lens reveals information that you can’t see with the naked eye.

Creating your drone survey often benefits by looking at your terrain through a different lens.

1) Hill shade lens
- Shading plays an important role in a human’s brain to interpret a scene in a three-dimensional context. The hill shade lens is enabled automatically when you disable the orthophoto. This lens is particularly convenient for lidar data that doesn’t come with an orthophoto.

2) Contours lens
- The contours lens can be used to digitize flow lines. Draw a flowline by tracing through the bulges in the contour lines.

3) Slope direction lens
- The slope direction lens can help to understand the hydrology of a location. In the example, the slope direction lens shows that the water will flow to the left and right sides of the road so that it is drained properly.

4) Slope steepness lens
- Drawing a breakline is often not easy when the terrain is too bright or dark. Enabling the slope steepness lens displays slope gradients in different colors. These color difference allow to clearly identify the breaks in the terrain.

5) Transparent lens
- The transparent lens is an ideal tool when you have points, lines or other surfaces in your project that are located under the terrain. Enabling the transparent lens will allow you to see through the terrain and see those features.

6) Elevation lens
- The elevation lens shows elevations as different colors. This appearance allows you to understand the highs and lows in your drone data.

7) Combine lenses
- You can combine different lenses together and create nice appearances of your drone data. For example, the slope steepness, contours and hill shade lenses go very well together.
