Restless legs syndrome (RLS) is a neurological condition where a person experiences a jittery, or 'creepy-crawly' sensation in their legs that's only briefly relieved by movement.

RLS is characterized by three main issues:
1. An unbearable urge to move the legs
2. Worse during rest (sitting in a chair for long periods, or in bed)
3. It's relieved (briefly) by movement
4. Worse at night

What makes it worse? Caffeine, nicotine and alcohol. Also, drugs like antidepressants and antihistamines (for allergies).

About 1 in 10 people are affected by Restless Legs Syndrome.
It's most common in little kids with ADHD, pregnant women, middle aged and older people.

How do you fix it? There are 4 top nutritional medicines you can use:
1. Magnesium - acts as a muscle relaxer and sleep aid
2. Iron - Iron deficiency is very highly associated with RLS
3. Folate (a type of folic acid) deficiency
4. Tyrosine - an amino acid precursor to dopamine, a brain neurotransmitter

A diet rich in the above nutrients includes:
Magnesium: Green leafies, nuts, seeds, avocados, bananas, legumes, seafood and chocolate, coffee

Iron + Tyrosine rich foods - chicken, turkey, fish, milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese, peanuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, soy products and lima beans, avocados and bananas, eggs

Folate + B12 rich foods: Meats, beans, lentils, peas, soy, spinach, beets, Brussels sprouts and broccoli

Also, frequent exercise (walking, running etc throughout the day), stretching and acupuncture are helpful.
