Featured is the chess game between Jon Ludvig Hammer and Magnus Carlsen from the 2003 World Youth Chess Championship (U14). 12-year-old International Master Carlsen plays with the black pieces and opts for a hypermodern opening. Carlsen’s 8th move is the beginning of an offensive that coordinates with his furthest advanced pawn (e5). What is instructive in this brief 17-move encounter are the moments where a recapture seems automatic, the instances of unprotected pieces within Hammer’s army, and the overall coordination of Carlsen’s pieces.

I'm a self-taught National Master in chess out of Pennsylvania, USA who was introduced to the game by my father in 1988 at the age of 8. The purpose of this channel is to share my knowledge of chess to help others improve their game. I enjoy continuing to improve my understanding of this great game, albeit slowly.
