“The so-called ‘hidden masters’ have never in fact been hidden. People just don’t know how to see outside their tiny reality-tunnel, and so never notice them, even when they are sitting next to you on a park bench.”~ Some crazy dervish

Join us for our once-monthly “Other Talk”, hosted the third Sunday of every month!

This morning’s topic — “Who is Al-Khidr?”

So who is Al-Khidr? Why does he show up so often in the biographies of so many famous Sufi teachers, such as Ibn Arabi and Abd al Qadir Jilani?
“Al-Khidr” can be taken to mean “The Green One,” and he is connected to several legendary personages as diverse as Elijah and St. George. He is perhaps best known at the teacher of Moses, with their story told in the Quran. Whenever, wherever, and however he appears, one can expect things to change in a big way.

Further questions arise: Is Khidr relevant to today’s world? What can we learn from the stories about him? Is it possible that he exists outside of myth?
