What Is An Account Executive
If you're breaking into B2B sales, you might have heard of the time Account Executive before. An account executive is a direct representative between a company, and it's prospects and clients. In many cases, an account executive's role is to mainly close new deals. The term account executive is very common in SaaS or B2B sales companies.

An account executive may spend a majority of their time inbound closing, taking sales meetings, following up, negotiating, and generally closing deals. Sometimes an account executive will have to do their own sales prospecting and do lead generation themselves instead of having a sales development rep do that work for them.

How Much Does An Account Executive Make
Account executives generally get paid with a base salary and commission. How those two are split to create an OTE (on-target earnings) depends on each company. However, a 50/50 split between base salary and commission is standard.

How Do You Get A Job As An Account Executive
To get an account executive job, you can work with recruiting agencies, start off as a sales development representative and work your way up to an account executive, find a company that's willing to start you off as an account executive even if you don't have any sales experience or become an inbound closer or freelance sales rep.
