Released exclusively on Disney Plus, Pixar's Soul pushes the edge of the box further out from what we think a Pixar film means. I want to explore the deep recesses of what it means to live by pairing Soul with a shallow dive into the work of Joseph Campbell. This is an interrogation of ourselves, a confrontation with a cave we fear to enter.

When I first saw it, I knew there was a lot of depth to it. It kept chewing in the back of my mind, and then when I saw Joseph Campbell and the Power of Myth series, my brain blew open and Soul seemed to make so much more sense to me.

In researching this video, listening to Pete Docter and Kemp Powers talk, I felt like they had come to a lot of the same conclusions that I have been reaching after experiencing Campbell's work. The deep questions about What is the Meaning of Life? Is our purpose built from our passions? I try to explore them here.
