When you relax your hands, it helps you relax the entire part of your body. This is because your entire body is connected together so therefore the relaxation of one area promotes relaxation in another area. Your nervous system is connected together, so therefore, when one parts of your body is more calm , it sends a signal to other parts of your body to become calm as well.

Remember that letting go of tension in your body helps you become more present, hope you let go of negative emotions, improves your entire health and state of being.

So next time when you are trying to let go of tension in one part of your body, but you can't, just practice, relaxing, your hands, and other parts of your body, that you do have controlling and by doing so your whole entire body starts to relax.
