This morning’s topic — ‘The Three Facets of Certainty: a Sufi perspective on how to know “What’s So”

There is a very important question for anyone to ask oneself as often as possible: “How do I know what I know?” Furthermore, in doing the Work, we consider it imperative to ask ourselves an additional and perhaps deeper question: “How do I know what is true?”

In line with these inquiries, we offer two Arabic terms to guide our exploration. The first,Yaqin, means “certainty”. Yaqin is the inner state that is connected to the second term, Ihsan (roughly, “to do beautiful things”), the outer manifestation of certainty.

But what is this certainty, and how do we develop it? There are three stages of Yaqin according to our tradition, and each of them has their own method of development.
