My gold standard for testing hormones is a blood draw for serum testing, but it’s hard to get a blood draw at a lab during this time. So what is the alternative?

Watch this latest video for which hormones I like to check and how to test them at home. Not all biomarkers I discuss in the video have been validated for blood spot testing versus the gold standard of a blood draw. The latter is what I use for treatment decisions. Still, there are convenient, reliable alternatives for testing many biomarkers and you can use them to infer trends and screen for problems to investigate further.

In the video, I talk about the blood spot test from ZRT Labs. I also love the Dutch Test dried urine test for hormone metabolism and to follow certain hormones in my patients on bioidentical hormone therapy. Occasionally I will run saliva tests but only for limited indications.

I look at three categories when testing: metabolic hormones, sex hormones, because I am obsessed with heart disease, I also look at cardiovascular risk factors.
