“Attention is the quintessential medium to reveal man’s dormant energies to himself.”
~ William Segal

Mr. Gurdjieff asserted that humans have more than one avenue of attention. He suggested that each of the three “centers” (Moving, Feeling, and Thinking) have their own attention, and that these three attentions can often be in conflict. Furthermore, he suggested that each of these three attentions can be mechanical, focused, or conscious. This model falls nicely in line with traditional Sufi thought.

What is crucial for us to understand is this: We can make each of these attentions conscious, and from there we can begin moving from these three separate attentions toward one unified attention with three aspects. When the three successfully become one, something marvelous happens.

Let’s take an hour or so to learn a specific technique for awakening and unifying the three attentions in this remarkable way.
