Featured is the rapid chess game between Magnus Carlsen and Timur Gareyev from Round 5 of the 2023 FIDE World Rapid Championship. Out of a Ruy Lopez, Steinitz we observe early aggressive pawn play against Carlsen’s kingside. It’s instructive how Carlsen manages to, in time, take full advantage of the weaknesses behind Gareyev’s extremely committal 6th move.
