What is the difference between polycystic ovaries (PCO) and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)?

These terms are sometimes used interchangeably, and both of them will indicate certain presentations with the health of the ovaries, but the actual details of why, and what is going on in your body are very different, and will require different approaches and treatment.
